Born in 1913 in a family devoted to community service. Co-founded with Durgabai Deshmukh, the Andhra Mahila Sabha in Madras and Hyderabad. Hon. Principal, Government Industrial Centre for Women. First Chairman, Andhra Pradesh State Social Welfare Advisory Board. Set up the now famous Stree Seva Mandir for the emancipation, care and total rehabilitation of women and children in distress.
