Born in 1932 in a Gujarati family in Dahanu, Maharashtra. Undertook the difficult mission, at the instance of Kaka Kalelkar, of working for emotional integration of the Nagas with the rest of the country. Established the Nagaland Gandhi Ashram under the auspices of Bharatiya Adimjati Sevak Sangh. Weathered the high tension and life threatening atmosphere. Started Vocational Training Centre for school drop-outs and physically handicapped, ran Balwadis and medical aid centre, popularized Khadi and Village Industries Programmes especially the art of modern bee-keeping.
