A.M.M. Murugappa Chettiar Research Centre, The Photo-synthesis & Energy Division, headed by Dr. C.V.Seshadri, was established in 1977. Its basic areas of research are the application of biotechnology as well as wind and solar energy for achieving self-sufficiency in food, fodder and energy.
