Erik Kumedisa is on a mission to change and transform a situation of unjustness for the betterment of the people in the Congo region. His efforts to use Gandhian values to promote sustainability in rural activities in a war-torn and challenging country, is exemplary.
In 2008, Erik Kumedisa established a non-profit association called Gandhi Monks Community. Gandhi Monks live isolated or grouped and are united among themselves by the ideal of non-violence, without being secluded from the world. They are committed to challenge certain practices that generate violence. By studying Gandhian philosophy, Erik Kumedisa believes that the work carried out for the betterment of the people with conviction is an essential element for a fulfilling and happy life.
Erik Kumedisa is successful in teaching and propagating Ahimsa “non-violence” and Gandhian values in a country undermined by civil wars and strife. Erik Kumedisa’s continuous efforts has enabled the people of Congo to put into practise the precepts of non-violence in their business and that has helped them to move forward. Erik Kumedisa’s approach towards his works is striving hard towards agricultural self-sufficiency.
