Born: October 3, 1921

Born at Karangasem in Bali, Indonesia, Gedong Bagoes Oka founded the Kosala Wanita Foundation for the welfare of women and children and PTIP - an Association to fight T.B. A member of the Indonesian Parliament and Congress, Executive Director of the Asian Conference on Religion and Peace, a member of the Advisory Board of Bina Desa - an umbrella organization of NGOs. Gandhiji's autobiography inspired her to found the Bali Canti Sena and the Canti Dasa Ashram. The activities include public health, rural development farming, ecology, education and such other voluntary programmes.
