Jamnalal Bajaj exemplified Gandhiji’s vision, becoming trustee of his wealth and life. His legacy continues to guide us, urging us to dedicate our lives to services, to rise above personal ambition, and to work towards a self-reliant society. Each of Gandhian Constructive programmes that Jamnalalji nurtured was a developmental programme and a social reform. The constructive programmes helped the poor, the needy. Khadi being one of them provided wages and bread to thousands of spinners and weavers. Today, Jamnalalji’s life reminds us all to live as trustees, bettering ourselves for the common good. 

As we celebrate today, I reflect on what and why we honour here. The answer lies in the values embodied by Jamnalalji who lived the ideals of Niksham Karmayog (selfless action).
