2011 Recipient, Application of Science & Technology for Rural Development Award
Poet Iqbal had referred to thousands of rivers playing in the lap of our country. Since then, all these rivers have become polluted or dead as they have dried up. The level of water has dipped lower than the level of our politics.
Under such trying circumstances, we have, during last 30 years, handled the simple-liquid water in some small and big measures. We looked at the society with faith and trust - society which understood the geo-climatic conditions of their area and chalked out a water management philosophy which would guide us for a few thousand years. All that we have done is just brushed off the dust from over these time-teased techniques, and polished them afresh, and see they are working again for us.
