The Jamnalal Bajaj Awards 1999 were held on 5th November, 1999 at 5:00 pm at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, in Mumbai. Dr. P. C. Alexander (Hon'ble Governor of Maharashtra) was the Chief Guest and awards were received by: Mr. Narayan Desai (Constructive Work), Dr. Ajoy Kumar Basu (Application of Science & Technology for Rural Development), Ms. Saraswathi Gora (Development & Welfare of Women and Children) and Prof. Sir Joseph Rotblat (Promoting Gandhian Values Outside India).
